Is it time for our maile leaf tattoos?

Lynn and I wear simple silver bands on our ring fingers and the inside is engraved with maile leaves. We decided a while back that we would get tattoos of this same design around our arms before we make the move to the islands (an agreement that apparently Lynn is forgetting about now LOL). I considered doing it on this trip as the artists may have more experience with the design than back in SLC however it would keep us out of the ocean for the rest of the trip and I have also flown home with fresh tats and it is really not too fun. We'll see...

We Love Lahaina!

Lahaina is a former "Royal Capitol of the Hawaiian Kingdom" and the name means unmerciful sun. I can attest to the fact that you don't really want to be there walking around midday in the summer. Today it was absolutely beautiful. This is a great time of year to visit. We had lunch on Front Street and did some shopping before pointing the Volvo back to Kaanapali and spending a few hours bobbing in the large surf. Good times for sure! Now for a Big Island beer (yes we are still partial to the Kona beers) and figuring out what where we want to go for dinner!

Different Strokes

Here she is standing on one of the top 10 beaches in the whole world on one of the most amazing islands in the world with her back to the ocean (as I said never to do) and texting friends that are somewhere else in the world. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

We are headed to Lahaina shortly so maybe there is something there that will float her boat. And if not... I don't really care because I am loving every minute of this!

Leave Behind

I brought one of my favorite movies on DVD (CAMP) for a friend but somehow we could not find it in our backpack when we were at her house so when we did find it back at Hale Kai Nalu we watched it several times and decided to leave it behind for others to enjoy. I will mail another to her when I get home :-).

There is just something about Maui

What it is about Maui that has always lured me? I mean something has brought me back here almost 40 times over the years. And after we move to Hawai'i I am looking forward to weekends on this amazing island.

We had a great time over on Hawai'i but had to wrap up that short visit and head over here. We met some more people for the first time on Hawai'i and we're fortunate enough to see a few good people that we have met before and now consider friends.

Hey at least I have internet again and this makes Blakey a happy happy boy (I think Lynn may have liked it better when I didn't have it LOL).

I Really Like This Car!

Stepped it up a tad for Maui and rented this Volvo C70 Hardtop Convertible. It's a sweet ride and I must say pretty sexy for a Volvo (and brand new... 21 miles on it when we drove it off the Hertz lot). Problem is there really is not place to really open it up here on Maui. We may take it up north of Kaanapali and see how it does. This is a car that may land me with a ticket. The handling seems to be awesome and it really goes when the accelerator is pushed. I'd really like to drive it on something like Saddle Road on Hawai'i Island.

%%#$@&$#!(@*&!

Okay I spent most of the day walking around on lava, a lot of it barefoot and I didn't so much as stub a toe. Then I get back to the house and sit a fucking deck chair on my toe?! Seriously? Grrrrrrr!

Mele Kalikimaka!

The image is of a store window in a downtown Hilo furniture store. I thought it was cool but the reflection off the glass made it a kind of bizarre photo.

We had a wonderful Christmas in Puna area. In the morning we drove down and explored Red Road (look for pictures coming soon) and we spent much of the afternoon hiking the cliffs or just hanging out at the house. Santa brought us several whale sightings from our backyard and we even got to see a sea turtle riding the big waves. Very cool!

That evening we had grilled steaks, backed potatoes, grilled squash and grilled pineapple. Delicious! And of course we had to go swimming in the backyard on Christmas Day! Overall a fantastic day!
